What process do you use to select social workers for positions?

Our process at Portman Recruitment is different for each and every candidate, because of them has different strengths and experiences. It’s also as important to ask them what it is they’re looking for in their new role. Without this insight, we can’t ensure that the social worker will be comfortable in their new role. It’s vital that every party is happy. Some people may be looking for a new challenge, to try something they haven’t tried before, equally some people may be looking for a similar role that they are comfortable in. Regardless of what it is they’re after, we’ll ensure your CV is optimised for the job you’re after. We’ll go out and speak to local authorities and then report back to clients about what the local authorities are after.

In general, local authorities will look for people that have 2 to 3 years experience in the social work field. However, depending on demand and need, some local authorities will look for people with 12 months experience.

Trafford Council offers 37 hours a week contracts and will pay 40 per mile for relevant business trips.

If you’re not happy with your current work assignment, please pick up the phone and give your dedicated consultant at Portman Recruitment a call. Our team gets out to see their clients as much as possible at times that suit the social worker from quick coffee chats to popular team meals out.

All our agency social workers will get paid on time, every time via a payroll company that they have requested. We also have an optional PAYE scheme that social workers are welcome to use.
