Bolton Council covers a variety of different wards, including Astley Bridge, Bradshaw, Crompton, Farnworth, Great Lever, Heaton and Lostock, Kearsley, Little Lever and Darcy Lever. With 60 councillors as the voice of the people in the area, Bolton Council is one of the larger authorities in the area. Bolton Council provides its constituents with many useful services, as well as offering our candidates a variety of different social work roles.
Some of the key social work services offered by Bolton Council include:
- Adoption: In Bolton Council, adoption services are carried out in conjunction with Adoption Now, which is a regional adoption agency that combines the efforts of six local authorities (Blackburn with Darwen, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside), alongside two voluntary adoption agencies, Caritas Care and Adoption Matters.
- Fostering: Potential foster parents can use this service to discover what’s involved in becoming a foster carer, get support in their journey to becoming foster parents and find out more about the council resources available to them. Parents already fostering can access help and support from the council on a variety of different aspects of fostering, as well as training and advice.
- The Emergency Duty Team: Bolton Council operates an emergency out of hours service for both professionals and the general public. The team has a social worker on duty from 6 pm to 9.30 am every night and from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm on weekends and bank holidays. This allows the council to provide an emergency service fora variety of different vulnerable groups, including children, adults, older people, and people struggling with mental health and homelessness.
