What process do you use to select social workers for positions?

Selecting a social worker for a role requires different approaches each and every time because candidates’ strength and experience differ across the board, there are no two the same. At Portman Recruitment we think it’s important to ask the candidate what they’re looking for in their new role. Some candidates may be looking for a new challenge and some may just want a similar role. Whatever their preference is our specialist consultants will ensure your CV is optimised for whatever role. In our experience, the majority of social workers know exactly what they’re looking for. This knowledge allows us to go out and speak to local authorities and then make the appropriate social workers aware of the jobs that match their requirements, skills and experience.

Salford Council and other local authorities tend to look for agency social workers that have around 2 or 3 years experience, post qualification. This number is a good indicator that a social worker has dealt with a broad range of work-based scenarios. During high demand, a local authority will seek a social worker with 12 months experience in the sector.

Salford Council offers 37 hours per week and the business milage claim is around 40p per mile.

If you have an issue or problem at work then please do not hesitate to call your dedicated recruitment specialist at Portman Recruitment immediately.

We’ll be on hand to help put the initial fire out and then take time to put in a plan to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Or if needs be, relocate the social worker so that they are in a role that doesn’t present these kinds of problems again.

We have hard-working consultants who look to build strong working relationships with our social workers. We truly care about our social workers, recognise the role that they have to do and look to support wherever we can.

We do our utmost to ensure our clients feel as comfortable as possible when it comes to contacting us. Our agency was founded on a belief of offering an ‘Above and Beyond service’. This ethos means we’re confident knowing we’ll always be one step ahead of competitors, ready to step in and help where others may not.

From helping candidates create an outstanding CV that is full of relevant experience to being just a call away if they need help – we do it all. When it comes to interviewing, we’ll help you prep, give you advice on answering questions and keep you updated about the status of your social work application.

The level of service that we offer is something that you’ll struggle to find elsewhere. From the minute clients walk through the door they can see that we do things differently. We firmly believe that the candidate always comes first, we treat them as a human being, not just someone who is there to fill a role. We take it upon ourselves to ensure we match the hard work and dedication that our social workers do. We do as much as we can to keep in touch with our clients and want our social workers to feel like a happy family.

All agency social workers will be paid on time, every time via their requested payroll company. We also offer an optional PAYE scheme that social workers can use.
